Twilight Trivia
• Kristen Stewart has naturally green eyes. She wears brown contacts for filming because Bella is supposed to have brown eyes.
• Kellan Lutz intended on keeping his natural curly hair for the role of Emmett Cullen. However, his previous role in _”Generation Kill” (2008)(mini)_ required a buzz cut and his hair didn’t grow fast enough for the filming of Twilight (2008/I).
• Henry Cavill was Stephenie Meyer’s first choice to play Edward. However, but by the time production was to begin, he was 25 years old, and no longer looked the part of a 17-year old. He was then offered the part of Carlisle Cullen but turned it down due to his commitment with “The Tudors” (2007).
• For the role of Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson flew from England to director Catherine Hardwicke’s house to audition. There, he and Kristen Stewart, who was already cast as Bella Swan, rehearsed the “Love Scene”/”Meadow Scene” on Hardwicke’s own bed.
• All of the actors playing the Cullens wear topaz-colored contacts.
• Taylor Lautner had to wear a wig for his role as Jacob Black.
• Over 5,000 actors auditioned for the role of Edward.
• According to a July interview between network.nationalpost.com and director Catherine Hardwicke, Kristen Stewart was recommended for the role of Bella Swan by Emile Hirsch, her co-star from Into the Wild (2007) and whom Hardwicke directed in Lords of Dogtown (2005).
• The script was finished in 6 weeks.
• Robert Pattinson stated in an interview that this is his first American role and he had no formal training to perfect his American accent.
• Stephenie Meyer made a non-speaking cameo in Twilight (2008/I). She can be seen in a scene when Bella and Charlie go out to dinner in Forks.
• In Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005) Kristen Stewart’s character quips, “We never should have rented Thirteen (2003)”. Thirteen (2003) was directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who is the director of Twilight (2008/I), and also starred and was co-written by Nikki Reed.
• Since Kristen Stewart was a minor during most of the filming she wore hair pieces so they didn’t have to waste time doing her hair, and therefore had more time to shoot.
• Kristen Stewart turned eighteen while filming the movie and was rewarded with a birthday cake – and a full night of shooting.
• The actors who played vampires needed to be pale, so it was written into their contracts that they had to stay out of the sun.
• Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale) learned how to play baseball left-handed for the famous baseball scene.
• Stephenie Meyer cited the band Linkin Park as her source of inspiration to write her books that the band themselves provided a song for the film’s soundtrack.
• Stephenie Meyer acknowledges other authors that partially inspired her. One in particular was J.K. Rowling of the Harry Potter book/film series. Coincidentally, actor Robert Pattinson starred in one of the Harry Potter films.
Twilight Mistakes
- When Edward rescues Bella from the four frat boys, she has a large black purse. When he drops her off at the police station, she doesn’t have the purse. Also, when he follows her into the woods, she throws her backpack down by a tree. They go all over the mountain and never get her backpack back.
- When Bella gets out of the car after Port Angeles she leaves her purse and goes home with her father. When she is at home she then has the book she bought at the store and put in her purse that she left in Edward’s car.
- In the scene after Bella slips on the ice, and is talking to Charlie, you can hear rain and you can see rain all around them, but there is no rain falling on the characters.
- When Edward and Bella are in the forest and they are talking about what Edward really is, there is a microphone in view at the top of the screen.
- The bite marks are simply birthmarks and too small to be an actual “human” bite.
- In the lunchroom scene, after Edwards flips the apple back up at Bella, you can see he is sweating (under his arms) and yet they stated before that his skin is ice cold.
- In the scene where Edward was bitten by his father he was bit on the right side when the mark is on the left.
- In the dance scene, Bella’s shoes switch, at first they’re nice shoes and in the end, when they zoom in on them, they’re Converse.
- There is a brief scene toward the beginning in which Bella has a flashback of Edward’s eyes being black. In the short snippet, you can see the rim of the contacts he’s wearing.
- In the scene where Bella is in the hospital, when the camera is up close to her face, the breathing tubes are right by her eyes, but when the shot is far from her face, the tubes are sitting on her cheeks.
- In the scene where Bella and Edward are walking into the Italian Restaurant in Port Angeles, the cars in the parking lot all have Oregon license plates, as does Edward’s car (location where the movie was filmed, instead of on location in Washington where the book takes place and the movie is indicated to take place as well).
- Updated this week Revealing: In the Dance Studio, there is a point where James rams Edward’s head into the mirrors, shattering the surface. However, Edward’s reflection on the shattered surface remains intact, instead of being a fractured reflection, as would have been the case when a mirror shatters.
- While Bella (Kristen Stewart) is in the hospital near the end of the movie, her eyes are green, her natural color, but during the rest of the movie, they are brown.
- In the first biology classroom scene there is a armadillo in the background, later in the movie in the second scene in the classroom it is gone but in the next shot it reappears.
- When Bella is in the hospital, her left leg is the broken one. [While lying in the bed, her left leg is the one under the blankets, obviously in a cast; while her right leg is bent and her knee is sticking from under the covers.] But when she and Edward go to prom, the cast is on the right leg.
- After Bella realizes he is a vampire, Edward moves around a lot (closer and farther away) while he talks to her while squatting in the tree and she is standing on the ground. With different camera angles the space between them changes back and forth drastically.
- In the scene where Edward is playing Bella’s lullaby on the piano, Bella goes from sitting against his shoulder in one shot to sitting about half a foot away from him in the next shot.
- The bite marks on Edward’s neck are sometimes viewed on the left side of his neck and sometimes on the right side.
- In the hospital at the end, the air tube in Bella’s nose changes between shots many times in the scene.
- During the hospital scene, when Edward is “sleeping,” his head moves from leaning on one shoulder to the other during different shots.

But he could resist, if he wished to, if he was a recovering alcoholic. Now let’s say you placed in that room a glass of hundred-year-old brandy… How do you think he would fare then?
Edward Cullen: Maybe that’s not the right comparison. Maybe it would be to easy to turn down brandy. Perhaps i should make our alcoholic a herion addict instead.
Isabella Swan: So what your saying is, I’m your brand of heroin?
Edward Cullen: Yes, you are exactly my brand of heroin.
Edward Cullen: [shuts car door] Carlisle, what’s going on?
Dr. Carlisle Cullen: [sighs] Waylon Forge was found in a boat out near his place, I just examined the body.
