In Chiapas, Mexico, we see a Petromaya Oil Field worker climbing over a pipe to try to escape a furious Graboid underground. When reaching the end of the pipe, the worker sees his van over on the other side of a group of oil drums, which he then runs over to try to escape to safety. But, he is not quick enough and the Graboid comes in and devours the worker whole.

Back in the U.S., we see Earl grappling with an ostrich at his home residence. Minutes later, Earl sees a taxi driving down the road. Two men exit the taxi, Grady Hoover and Señor Ortega. Ortega has read in the newspaper that Earl and Val had taken down the Graboids some years back. He informs Earl that there are more of them killing the workers and that he needs his help to dispose of them immediately. Earl refuses. Grady comes in his trailer and tells him that Ortega will pay him $50,000.00 for each graboid. After a man-to-man conversation, Earl comes out and agrees to eliminate the Graboids, and Grady decides to go along with him.

On their way to the Petromaya Oil Field, Earl and Grady are introduced to Pedro, the company’s chief engineer and Kate Reilly, a geologist, whom Earl begins to flirt with. Ortega brings Earl and Grady a few cases of dynamite and an M16 that they requested by the army to take down the Graboids. Later, a man named Julio comes in and introduces a seismic monitor that will show Grady and Earl where the Graboids are on its screen. Grady builds a long chain with a few empty aluminum cans attached to it to make noise to make the Graboids come to them.

Earl and Grady step in and are successfully able to take down 15 Graboids using dynamite strapped to remote-control toy cars. After killing their 16th one, another furious Graboid comes in and snags the chain Grady hooked to the back of the truck. The Graboid begins to drag them along the field. When the Graboid snaps the chain by going under a huge rock, Earl sees more and more Graboids coming in on the seismic monitor. For a little help, Earl calls up Burt Gummer, an old friend of his, who had helped him take down the Graboids with Val some years ago. Burt comes in with an army truck filled with a lot of explosives and sundry weapons. The group then splits up to go and kill more of the Graboids. Read more
