The movie begins roughly two years after the events of Species. It begins with a trio of American astronauts (Anne Sampas, Dennis Gamble & Patrick Ross) on a mission to Mars. Patrick is the only astronaut to go down to the surface where he collects soil samples. Patrick returns to the ship and the crew prepare to return to earth. The temperature on the ship is shown to thaw out frozen DNA in the soil samples, the DNA then attempts to infect the astronauts. Dennis Gamble is not infected due to him carrying the sickle cell gene, as the alien DNA cannot tolerate human diseases, however the other two astronauts are infected.
Scientists on earth have created a clone of Sil, using the second of the three embryos mentioned in the first film. The clone, named Eve, has been engineered to be more docile than her predecessor. She is part of another attempt to understand the alien life form and prepare for defense should it ever arrive on Earth. The program is run by Dr. Laura Baker.
After returning to earth the three astronauts are examined and are found to be in good health. They are instructed not to have sex for 10 days however Patrick ignores this advice and has sex with two woman that night. After he finishes having sex with one, he begins to have sex with the second woman. While they are having sex, he begins to sprout tentacles. As the woman pleads for him to stop, the first woman is shown in the bathroom going though the full stages of pregnancy within 5 minutes until an alien burst out of her stomach. Shortly after, the second woman also gives birth. Neither woman survives. Patrick buries their bodies and hides the children inside a shed on a remote property. During Patrick’s sexual activity Eve shows signs of physiological excitement.
The government summons Press Lennox for help controlling the situation. After meeting with Dr. Orinsky’s old apprentice, Lennox and Baker begin searching for the astronauts. Lennox and Baker first attempt to find Patrick but he is not home, they then drive to the the Sampas residence to find Anne. By the time Laura and Press get there, Anne, who has just finished having sex with her husband, is going through labour. Anne suddenly gives birth to her alien offspring which kills her husband. Press breaks through the door and shoots the creature as Laura gasses it to death. Anne does not survive.
The next morning, Patrick wakes up next to his fiancé’s mutilated body and yet another alien child. Horrified at what he has done again, he grabs a shotgun and goes out onto the backyard deck to commit suicide. Patrick sticks the barrel of the gun into his mouth and blows his head off. Seconds later, his entire head regenerates. He resumes trying to impregnate more women, and is later shown to have accumulated a large family of children in his shed.
The scientists activates Eve’s alien DNA in an attempt to track Patrick, due to Eve’s telepathic ability. Eve discovers Patrick’s whereabouts, and due to the connection Patrick discovers hers. Dennis and Press find and arrest Patrick, who does not resist. They take him back to the lab where it is revealed he only surrendered so he could get closer to Eve. When they arrive at the facility, he senses her and tries to break her out until thwarted by Laura, Dennis & Press. He escapes and makes it back to his shed. Read more
