Shortly after learning their unit will soon return home, American soldiers, LTC William Marsh (Samuel Jackson), SGT Vanessa Price (Jessica Biel), SPC Tommy Yates (Brian Presley), SPC Jamal Aiken (50 Cent) and PVT Jordan Owens (Chad Michael Murray) are sent on a final humanitarian mission to bring medical supplies to a remote Iraqi village. On the way to the village, they are caught in an ambush by insurgents. The forward vehicles of the convoy are trapped on the narrow street, where they are forced to fight the attackers. The rear vehicles manage to escape the initial barrage, by taking a side-street, only to be met with an improvised explosive device hidden in the carcass of a dead dog. When the bomb explodes, SGT Vanessa Price, who is driving the vehicle, is seriously wounded having been somewhat protected from the blast by her front seat passenger who is instantly killed. While recovering the young boys that left the bomb and the other attackers, a recruit soldier in their team is shot and killed. When Jordan Owens and Jamal Aiken head out to shoot down the attackers, Aiken is shot in the hip so Owens goes to find the shooters in a graveyard. With Yates trailing him, metres behind, Owens is shot in the neck from behind by a hidden shooter and he dies in Yates’ arms. The surviving troops suffer both physical and psychological injuries. As they return to the US, the four soldiers must face memories of the past as they try to return to civilian life. Read more
