The next day when Charley comes home from school and encounters a hooker (Heidi Sorenson) who has an appointment with one’s new neighbors. Charley later hears a bloodcurdling scream coming from next door and the next morning he recognizes the young woman’s face on television saying that she has been murdered. Later that evening, Charley notices another young woman (Irina Irvine) at this neighbors’ house only this time he sees her with Jerry Dandrige (Chris Sarandon) just as he is about to bite her neck. He tells one’s mother (Dorothy Fielding) what he saw, but she passes it off as Charley’s overactive imagination. He tries to tell one’s friend “Evil” Ed Thompson (Stephen Geoffreys) and girlfriend Amy Peterson (Amanda Bearse), but neither of them believe him, and begin to worry about one’s mental well-being. Charley calls the police claiming that Dandrdige is the serial killer supposedly responsible for a recent spate of killings. The police investigate and when they do not find any bodies and Charley hysterically says that there is a coffin in the basement with a vampire in it, Detective Lennox (Art Evans) tell Charley never to call the police again. Realizing that he just put himself in great peril, Charley rushes over to Evil Ed’s house to ask him what he needs to do to protect himself from Jerry and then heads back home to prepare. Initially, he feels more secure knowing that a vampire cannot enter one’s home without being invited in by the rightful owner, but then he discovers it is too late for that as Jerry has already been invited in by one’s mother.

Later that evening, Charley is confronted is in one’s bedroom by Jerry, who offers him a choice: “Forget about me and I’ll forget about you.” Charley refuses and stabs Jerry in the hand with a pencil. Enraged, Jerry roars at Charley as if he’s about to kill him but reconsiders upon hearing that Charley’s mother woke up with all the commotion and leaves. Jerry later calls Charley and tells him that he is planning to kill him tomorrow night.

Charley then seeks out help of a veteran vampire killer, movie star and local late night bravado of the tv show Fright Night, Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall). Vincent visits Dandrige with Brewster and his friends in order to persuade Charley that Dandrige can’t possibly be a vampire.

Amy comes to believe that Dandrige is a vampire, but Evil Ed is not convinced, and wants to hear nothing about it. As he leaves, Evil Ed descends upon an open alley, only to encounter Dandrige. He becomes scared, and tries to run, but Dandrige has the power of the Master. He corners Evil Ed, giving him a choice to either die or join his coven. Evil Ed takes Dandrige’s hand and Dandrige bites him, changing him into a half-vampire. Read more
