Eragon Quotes
King Galbatorix: I suffer without my stone. Do not prolong my suffering.
Brom: That’s the spirit – one part brave, three parts fool.
Eragon: [to Saphira] My vision is failing!
Saphira: [to Eragon] It’s not you… but me.
Arya: Poor Durza, how will he tell the king? You failed.
[last lines]
Arya: Take care of him, Saphira
Saphira: I will.
Murtagh: A son doesn’t choose his father
Eragon: We’ve come to join you.
Ajihad: Seize him.
Eragon: [lunges forward. Saphira roars] NO! He’s with me. He saved my life.
Ajihad: [points to Murtagh accusingly] He is the son of Morzan, the traitor.
Eragon: [turns to Murtagh] Is it true?
Murtagh: A son doesn’t choose his father.
[pulls up tunic to reveal large, ropy scar]
Murtagh: This was the only thing he ever gave me. I hated that man until the day he died.
Ajihad: Lock him up. If he tries to escape, kill him.
Eragon: We’ve come to join you.
Ajihad: Seize him.
Eragon: He’s with me. He saved my life.
Ajihad: He is the son of Morzan, the traitor.
Eragon: Is it true?
Murtagh: A son doesn’t choose his father. This was the only thing he ever gave me. I hated that man until the day he died.
Ajihad: Lock him up. If he tries to escape, kill him.
Brom: You won’t be fighting your cousin, and it won’t be with wooden staves, either.
Eragon: [arguing with Saphira] I’m the rider, and I say we go!
Eragon: You can hear my thoughts!
Saphira: I’ve waited 1000 years to hear your thoughts. and now you can hear mine. I am Saphira. And you are my Rider.
Durza: My king, Galbatorix. As you feared, the dragon has hatched, but to a mere farm boy.
King Galbatorix: To whom is not the issue. When the Varden learn that the legend is real, they will be encouraged to challenge me. And I am not interested in being challenged.
Durza: There is no one left for you to fear, my king.
King Galbatorix: [Looking at map] Beyond these borders are remnants of the resistance. Dwarves, Elves, the Varden. I can’t let them have hope. Do not let them reach the Varden
Durza: I will find the boy, and kill him before he becomes a man.
Arya: Eragon! You shouldn’t have come.
Eragon: But in the woods…
Arya: Leave me here! Go, now!
Durza: It’s far too late for that.
[Laughs]
Durza: Forgive me if I stare, I knew you were young, but even then I was expecting someone a little more, well, more.
[Eragon charges at Durza, only to have him disappear and then reappear down the hall. Durza uses magic to make weapons and rocks fly forward to hit Eragon]
Eragon: Brisingr!
Durza: A young magician, how quaint.
Arya: Too late. It’s hatched.
Saphira: But what horse has ever been born that can outrun a dragon?
Roran: Work on that aim. You may make a hunter, yet.
[embraces Eragon sadly]
Arya: Time moves quickly.
Saphira: I can’t breathe fire yet, but… I can do this for Brom.
Eragon: [frightened] Please, put me down NOW!
Saphira: You’re giving me no choice!
[drops Eragon on hay bales]
Eragon: I need to know, saphira. Why me?
Saphira: You choose a leader for his heart.
Eragon: But I’m not without fear.
Saphira: Without fear there cannot be courage. But when we are together, it is our enemies who should be afraid.
Eragon: And are we together, Saphira?
[draws his sword]
Eragon: AS ONE?
[Saphira breathes fire for the first time]
Eragon: I’ll take that as a yes.
